Spring in Los Angeles

Events this spring happily keep bringing our team to LA.  Don’t get us wrong, we aren’t complaining! The City of Angels is a place that we always love to visit and enjoy the design opportunities this vibrant city has to offer.

We were absolutely thrilled to be included on the Luxe Magazine Gold List and were delighted to attend their beautiful LA events. The fabulous courtyard at Dennis & Leen, one of our favorite LA showrooms, was the sight of a lovely brunch.  It was a real treat to see old friends and meet new ones among the other designers and architects included on this year’s list. Pam Jaccarino, Editor in Chief of LUXE hosted a lively cocktail party at Roche Bobois to celebrate this year’s Gold List and the honorees. Gee, how lucky can you get?!?

It was fun seeing our friends and fellow Houstonians from Ken Kehoe Company at the events!

Editor at Large interviewed Sarah for their coverage of the Gold List party.

We made a point to stop by our favorite shops and showrooms to see their new pieces. Formations is full of exquisite collections that are handcrafted by local artisans in LA.

The koi in the Formations fish pond are mesmerizing to watch and the courtyard beautifully showcases a variety of outdoor furniture, tables and planters from their collection.

After the LUXE brunch, we had the opportunity to see the new items in the Dennis & Leen showroom. They always have the most stunning and unique pieces!

Paul Ferrante, one of our favorite lighting sources, was ready for spring with festive flowers and greenery outside the entrance to their showroom.

Kneedler Fauchere had no shortage of fabulous items. We love the modern and refined feel of this showroom.

Earlier in the spring, a few of us attended the Design Bloggers Conference. It was an inspirational week with some great speakers – Miles Redd, Jamie Drake, Carolyn Roehm and many more. When we weren’t at the conference, we had the opportunity to venture out to explore the city. Of course, we had to revisit the iconic Beverly Hills Hotel!

The conference organized a  tour of the Greystone Mansion and Gardens which was one of the most interesting events of the week. We toured the inside of the mansion with Ron Woodson & Jaime Rummerfield, co-founders of Woodson & Rummerfield House of Design. Ron and Jamie have also started SIA (Save Iconic Architecture), a non-profit foundation championing the fight to preserve significant architecture as art. It was so nice touring the mansion with them because they were extremely knowledgeable on the history of the home.

We have had the opportunity to tour the beautiful gardens on a previous trip to LA, but it was so interesting to be able to tour the inside of the mansion.

The details of each space were so sophisticated and we were in awe of it’s beautiful and timeless design.

We will be heading back for Legends 2018 in May. See you again soon, Los Angeles!
