Spring Has Sprung!

In: Behind the Scenes

[social_share/]

Signs of spring are popping up all over Houston and we find ourselves once again embracing a season of transition. It’s remarkable to see how swiftly time unfolds, and with each passing season we are reminded of the bright opportunities that lie ahead. Yet, before we look forward, we thought we would share a few of the moments that have been making our spring so bright and beautiful!

From the Azalea Trail to the Kappa Alpha Theta Alumni Spring Gathering and a site visit in Charleston, South Carolina, we love sharing our adventures with you. Keep scrolling for a look at what we’ve been up to!

BRANCHING OUT

What a delightful experience it was to participate in and celebrate the River Oaks Garden Club’s 2024 Azalea Trail, marking the 87th Anniversary of this cherished event! As we wandered through many of Houston’s most enchanting gardens, adorned with vibrant azaleas and other spring florals, we couldn’t help but marvel at the sheer beauty of spring in full bloom.

CHARLESTON CHARM

Sarah enjoyed being back in Charleston, South Carolina where she and Ellen did some sourcing for one of their projects in progress. With cobblestone streets, blooming magnolia trees, and charming restaurants, Charleston is always a marvelous place to visit in the spring!

While there, Sarah and Ellen met with the Vintage Homes construction team, Encore Reclaimed Lumber and Millwork, Vitoria International for stone slabs, and Katie Cullens, a Charleston-based kitchen and bath designer. This new construction vacation home on Kiawah Island designed by architect Bill Huey is going to be a beauty and we can’t wait to share more.

Pro Tip: If you’re headed to Charleston, be sure to stop by and see our friends at Tucker Payne Antiques and David Skinner Antiques. Here are just a few of the pieces that caught our eye last time we were there!

KAPPA ALPHA THETA IN BLOOM

What fun we had creating a tablescape for the Spring Kappa Alpha Theta gathering! We love how fresh florals transform a space, and this spread was a celebration of the spirit of Houston Thetas.

We had the best time sharing tabletop design tips with our fellow alums! An inviting table elevates any gathering into an unforgettable experience and these porcelain tulipiere vases were the perfect way to add height and drama to this setting. A meaningful addition to the table were the cabbage terrine and individual cabbage lidded bowls handmade by Sandy’s husband’s grandmother many years ago. Heirloom pieces are conversation starters that make for an even more special table!

In addition to our table, there were others designed by Hallie Simms and Nicole Zarr, all beautifully captured by Kathleen Waugh. It was a day brimming with creative beauty!

ROUND TOP RENDEZVOUS

Speaking of memorable tablescapes, Sarah had the most lovely evening in Round Top raising a toast with Monogram Appliances, Modern Luxury Interiors, and so many of our dear friends! Round Top is one of our favorite places to hunt for vintage and antique finds. Having the opportunity to wine and dine alongside other design enthusiasts in such a special setting is always a treat!

HAVE YOU SEEN US LATELY?

We love sharing design tips and inspiration and we’ve had wonderful opportunities to do that over the past few months. Keep scrolling for a look at where we’re making headlines!

One of Sandy’s most recent projects can be seen on the cover of Luxe Interiors + Design’s Spring 2024 issue. This home – originally conceived by Robert Dame Designs and constructed by Sims Luxury Builders, with finishes selected by designer Kevin Spearman – beautifully unites the hallmarks of 21st-century design. High ceilings, an open floor plan and banks of steel-framed windows and doors are accented by slurried brick walls, coffered ceilings and wide-plank wood floors that bring it back to a transitional center.

Sandy’s Galveston project was featured by Architectural Digest in their latest feature “14 Creative Balcony Ideas to Inspire Your Alfresco Sanctuary.” Don’t you just love those vintage life rings? They lend depth and dimension to the balcony wall and bring a unique sense of charm to this outdoor gathering space.

Have you heard about the trend called ‘bookshelf wealth’? We were grateful to receive a lovely mention from Houstonia in their latest article, “Houstonians Are Adopting the ‘Bookshelf Wealth’ Design Trend” where a few of our favorite bookshelves were highlighted!

A well-curated bookshelf serves as a narrative of our identity and experiences, and it’s the perfect way to add both depth and character to any space. Tap the button below to discover how you can integrate this into your home!
