Grateful for three decades of walking this path side by side
2022 LUXE Red Awards in Chicago
We enter this holiday season with full hearts and a deep sense of gratitude. This special time of year always invites us to slow down and appreciate the people and experiences that bring meaning to our days.
2025 marked thirty years of Lucas/Eilers Design. Three decades of trusted partnerships, creativity nurtured with intention, families and homes served with care, and countless moments, large and small, that continue to define who we are today—all made richer by the treasured clients who have become family to us over the years.
We hope you enjoy this brief walk down memory lane before we share a few firm highlights, and our annual Holiday Gift Guide, which includes a list of local nonprofits we hope you will consider supporting this season!

A festive flashback to our 2015 Christmas luncheon. We feel so fortunate to have shared seasons like this with such a talented community of designers over the years!

The debut of our book Expressive Interiors in 2020. A defining milestone and memory we treasure, followed by a pandemic-era book tour where, even in uncertain times, so many loved ones found ways to show their support and celebrate the moment with us safely.

If you know us, you know our love for flowers runs deep, and it has been such a joy to support events like Azalea Trail and Florescence over the years.

A memorable moment with antique expert Leslie Keno! Second only to our love of flowers is our passion for antiques, and our years participating in the Theta Charity Antiques Show remain such a privilege.

Fond moments with friends who brought light to our journey, and who continue to mean so much to us today.

We could share snapshots for days, but instead we will simply say thank you. Your support over the years has meant more than words can hold, and we look forward to making more memories with you in the years ahead!
Celebrating a Promise Fulfilled
In honor of our 30th anniversary, we launched a yearlong commitment to give back: 30 acts of kindness, each one created in partnership with organizations making a meaningful difference in our local community and beyond. The initiative became one of the most rewarding ways we celebrated this milestone moment for our firm, allowing us to honor our history by investing in the people and causes that shape our city.
We are delighted to announce that our goal has been achieved and we are grateful to have shared this journey with you! Take a look at a few of our most recent acts of giving below, and we hope you enjoy our Gifts for Good holiday gift guide.

We had the best time working with Undies for Everyone as we sorted, packed, and added stickers to underwear that will be gifted to children across Houston and beyond
We always love curating our annual holiday gift guide, and this year we are embracing this joyful season a little differently. Our Giving for Good gift guide is filled with opportunities to share a meaningful gift in honor or memory of a loved one, volunteer alongside friends and family, or shine a light on nonprofits making a difference in our world.
At its heart, it serves as an invitation to join us in the spirit of giving that has defined our anniversary year. Together, we can bring warmth and light to those who need it most.

A Look Behind the Scenes
Our team has been busy in the studio, yet we’ve still found moments to gather with friends and seek inspiration. Take a look at what we’ve been up to!
A Sweet Victory At Taste of the Town
Sarah participated in Taste of the Town with LUXE Interiors + Design, Ferguson Home, and the BSH Experience & Design Center for a lively kitchen showdown that paired great design with even better cooking. Guided by Head Chef Kaitlin Steets and Sous Chef Diana Sanchez, the teams created dishes for a panel of judges from LUXE, Ferguson Home, and Killer Vino.

Her team took home Best Dessert, making the evening even sweeter. A big thank you to LUXE, Ferguson, the BSH team, and everyone who came out to support!
Experiencing Artisan Craft Firsthand at Chaddock College

This fall, two of our team members, Victoria Miller and Sarah Dunn, spent time at Chaddock College exploring the art of furniture construction. From woodworking techniques to the nuances of distressing finishes, the experience offered a deeper understanding of the craftsmanship behind the pieces we source and design. It was a wonderful reminder that thoughtful design begins with knowing how things are made!
An Afternoon Shared with Friends and Fellow Garden Lovers

Several members of our team enjoyed a lovely afternoon at the Houston Botanic Garden luncheon honoring the River Oaks Garden Club and the Garden Club of Houston.
Surrounded by vibrant florals and a warm gathering of community members, it was a thoughtful celebration of stewardship, conservation, and the natural beauty that enriches our city.

Team Holiday Celebration at Sur La Table

Our team traded desks for aprons this month and gathered at Sur La Table to cook a fall feast. It was the perfect way to celebrate the season and reflect on another impactful year!
Sarah’s Journey to Madrid for the DLN Summit
This fall, Sarah had the opportunity to spend a week in Madrid for the Design Leadership Network Summit. Private tours, shared meals, and unhurried walks through the city offered a renewed appreciation for craft, culture, and the many ways design brings people together.

An unforgettable evening at the Design Leadership Network’s Award Dinner inside the historic Liria Palace. A night filled with beauty, thoughtful conversation, and creativity, shared among so many talented designers.

Beneath the Restored Splendor of La Cúpula at The Palace Hotel

A breathtaking dome inside the Palace Hotel, filled with light and architectural heritage. Designed in 1912 by Eduardo Ferrés i Puig and crafted by the master glassmakers Maumejean, the dome is made of 1,875 panes of stained glass that were recently restored to their original beauty. The iconic palm chandelier now hangs beneath it once again, returning this historic landmark to its full splendor.
The Royal Monastery of San Lorenzo de El Escorial
We were fortunate enough to take a private tour of the Royal Monastery of San Lorenzo de El Escorial, and it was truly breathtaking. Built in the 1500s under King Philip II, the monastery is considered one of the greatest Renaissance complexes in the world. Standing beneath these incredible frescoes and centuries of artistry felt almost surreal. A truly amazing place to experience in person!

An Iconic Stadium
The DLN Summit General Sessions took place inside Metropolitano Stadium, where Atlético Madrid plays. Not your everyday meeting room and such a fun place to gather!

Have You Seen Us Lately?
We are honored to share that one of Sandy’s projects appears in The Inviting Southern Home, the newest book from Southern Home‘s Lynn Terry. It is always a privilege to see our work alongside so many talented designers, and we are grateful to Lynn and the entire Southern Home team for this lovely recognition.

We loved seeing our work featured in House Beautiful’s article, “5 Holiday Decor Trends That We’ll Be Seeing EVERYWHERE This December”. Soft lights, a hint of whimsy on the tree, and a handful of cherished seasonal accents bring a cozy, festive spirit to any home!

It’s always a pleasure to see our work reappear in fresh and inspiring ways, as it did recently in Southern Living’s feature, “12 Paint Colors That Will Make Any Room Look Bigger.”
In this living room, Sandy’s use of Sherwin-Williams Foxy offers a beautiful example of how the right hue can open a space and thoughtfully transform the way a room feels and lives.

This year has been a beautiful reminder of the connections that shape our work and the people who make it all worthwhile. From trusted collaborators to cherished clients and friends, each relationship has woven purpose and joy throughout our journey.
From all of us here at Lucas/Eilers Design, we wish you a warm and joyful holiday season. May the coming year bring renewed inspiration, enduring beauty, and the comfort found in everyday joys.
“Love expressed through action is the only way we can change the world for the better.”
